Harwoods Group Forecourt Services with Car Wash

The Islands most advanced Car and Van wash opened 31st October 2009

Fuel Our Texaco Filling Station is the busiest independant forecourt on the Island delivering nearly 4 million litres of fuel each year to both Private and Business users. In addition to Texaco Premium unleaded and Diesel we also offer Super Unleaded, a higher octane fuel designed to meet the needs of modern high performance engines. For business customers we are agents for Key Fuels and RED.

Car Wash A German built ‘Washtec Pro 2 has replaced the Baptista Soft Touch Machine which was installed just 5 years ago at a cost of £150,000. As the largest independent forecourt on the Island we know it is important that we continue to invest and provide the best services for our customers. Since adding a new car wash centre in 2004 we have seen continued growth (washing well over 10,000 cars each year) but unfortunately our previous Car Wash proved to be unreliable and sourcing parts from Holland had become a problematic. Having taken the decision to replace our machine earlier this year we spent considerable time visiting sites in the UK and talking to the machine manufacturers as well as listening to our own customer’s requirements. There are already automatic washes on the Island but we wanted to offer something that would provide outstanding results and at the same time be gentle to the vehicles paint finish”, we also wanted a machine that offered something new. This led us to looking at automatic washes which the motor manufacturers themselves use”.

“We settled on the WashTec Softcare Pro2. This is the latest version of one of the best Car Washes available. We then specified it with a high pressure (70 – 85 bar) upgrade and special oscillating side nozzles for more effective removal of dirt and grit and much better wheel cleaning. Thanks to this high pressure delivery system, the new machine will be able to offer a unique touchless programme, ideal for people who want effective cleaning, waxing and drying without the need for the brushes to contact the vehicle – although we believe that once once these customers realise that the special foan brushes don’t harm the paint this option may be replaced. For the first time too, a full wash and polish programme will be available. This high level option will apply a polish to the vehicle in addition to the wax and leave a truly incredible finish.

Finally to ensure the machine was very simple and safe for customers to use we looked for a more efficient entry guidance system. The old wheel rest has gone and now a series of sensors track vehicle entry and bright LED displays will inform customers that they are in the right position and continue to provide information via a unique chrono display throughout the washing process. Staff will also be on hand to assist where necessary.

To compliment the new wash centre the whole area has received a cosmetic revamp with new road and surface works as well as the provision for a vacuum cleaner, which will be installed later in the year.

The whole project represents a further six figure investment from Harwoods – currently celebrating our 75th anniversary.

FOR THOSE WHO PREFER TO DO THE WORK THEMSELVES OR FOR VERY MUDDY VEHICLES WE HAVE UPGRADED OUR JET WASH TOO.

Prices:

We have kept prices broadly in line with our previous machine. The basic wash option at £3.99 is 51 pence cheaper than before, whilst the ever popular £5.99 wash,wax and dry remains although with significantly better results. Three higher level programmes are also offered for the first time. Diamond, Ruby and Sapphire Touchless, theseall utilise specialist pre-wash technology and high pressure cleaning with advanced chemicals to give an exceptional finish and added protection. Water and Air Two of the few things in life that are still free – well they are on our forecourt at least and if you should need any assistance our fully trained forecourt staff are always on hand to help you.

Convenience Store Our new Mace Express Convenience Store carries all the essentials and emergency items. From chilled ready meals and drinks to a full range of car care products. We also supply Mobile phone top ups and pet food.
